Module 101 Fundamentals covers a wide range of essentials in the theology and philosophy of Biblical Counseling. A substantial amount of time is spent understanding the distinctive biblical principles and theology that underpin our approach to soul care. You will examine and contrast different schools of psychological thought in light of Scripture and begin the paradigm shift from man's psychological models to God's biblical truth.Along the way, the student will be trained in the use of the Self-Confrontation Manual and in the effective use of counseling homework. This is coupled with a lecture series that focuses on real world scenarios and techniques for leading counselees to Christ.
The student will also be encouraged to apply to a certifying agency and complete the membership application. An in-depth discussion involving the dangers of psychological integration with the ministry of soul care will be a central theme in this course. The student should expect to be introduced to biblical terminology and principles involving idols of the heart, the art of self-talk, the doctrine of forgiveness, and how biblical homework provides the catalyst for real transformation. Students will be introduced to the concept of the ministry cycle for maximum effectiveness in offering lasting help to your counselees.
